Description:

In this class we’re going to be pulling a number of decorative skills together into one project. The top of the box will be carved in the classic Wyoming Sheridan style pattern. This is the floral pattern that adorns a lot of cowboy saddles and related leather work. With the pattern carved, paint will be applied to the box to highlight the carving. We’ll apply decorative edge banding around the top, and lastly we’ll line the inside of the box with silk for that extra special touch. A number of skills will be taught in this class. These include transferring patterns to wood, relief carving, how to use the different carving tools required, router table setup and use. Fitting silk and batting panels to the inside of the box. A pre-made Basswood box will be supplied with this class.
